Argentina winger Cristian ESPINOZA signs with MLS club San Jose Earthquakes

Cristian ESPINOZA has joined MLS club San Jose Earthquakes on loan.

The former Argentina U20 man will be coached by Matias ALMEYDA at his new club. Signed with La Liga team Villarreal back in 2016, he has played at Alaves, Real Vallodid and Boca Juniors, all while on loan.

Still only 23 years old, ESPINOZA was part of the 2015 Argentina U20 team which won the South American Youth Championship.

Ezequiel BARCO out of Argentian U20 team, Gonzalo MARONI replaces him

Ezequiel BARCO has had to pull out of the South American U20 tournament this month due to injury.

The Atlanta United man is replaced by Gonzalo MARONI, this coming from the Argentina Twitter account. MARONI, currently 19 is on loan at Talleres.

Guillermo Barros SCHELOTTO named new coach of MLS club LA Galaxy

Guillermo Barros SCHELOTTO has been named as the new head coach of the LA Galaxy.

The former Boca Juniors man has signed a contract and will take over MLS club Los Angeles Galaxy. SCHELOTTO comes in after having lead Boca to a Copa Libertadores final. Having spent a few years as a player with the Columbus Crew, SCHELOTTO already speaks English and here’s what he had to say about him joining the club.

“I am honored to be the head coach for the most decorated club in Major League Soccer. This is a tremendous opportunity for me and I am excited to get to work. The LA Galaxy have long been the standard in MLS and I am ready to push the club to new heights.”

Ajax announce the signing of defender Lisandro MAGALLAN

Ajax have announced their signing of Lisandro MAGALLAN.

The first Argentine of the new year making the switch over from South America to Europe is the Boca defender. Ajax have been following MAGALLAN for some time and the transfer has now been completed.

He will play alongside another Argentine, Nicolas TAGLIAFICO. The contract would keep MAGALLAN at the club until 2023 with a fee in the region of €8 million.

Gonzalo Pity MARTINEZ has been named the South American Player of the Year.

A big achievement for the 25 year old as he is the first Argentine to win the award since Andres D’ALESSANDRO back in 2010 with Internacional. It’s good news for MLS club Atlanta United as that looks to be his next destination.

MARTINEZ won the Copa Libertadores with River Plate and even earned played his first match and scored a goal for Argentina this past year.
