Gerardo MARTINO to Argentina or MEXICO, Jorge SAMPAOLI to Atlanta United

10

Gerardo “Tata” MARTINO is rumored to be leaving his current job at Atlanta United to either coach the Argentina National Team or the Mexican National Team with Jorge SAMPAOLI coaching Atlanta United.

According to a report from TyC Sports, MARTINO will step down as coach of MLS club Atlanta United. As we reported a few days ago, Tata has been linked not only to the Argentina job but the Mexico one as well. AFA president Claudio TAPIA has spoken in the past about wanting to bring Tata back as coach of the Argentina National Team but with the Mexico FA getting involved, it could make it more difficult.

Should he step down as Atlanta United coach, former Argentina National Team manager Jorge SAMPAOLI is rumored to be taking over that position in the MLS.

The Argentina team will be announced on Friday as a rumored list has been circulating which includes both Mauro ICARDI and Lautaro MARTINEZ.

Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI was initially going to announce his team last Sunday but due to injuries to a few players, the coach decided to wait before released the list. Paulo DYBALA scores for Juventus, Javier PASTORE back heel for Roma, more

37

Paulo DYBALA, Javier PASTORE, Ramiro FUNES MORI and Ramiro FUNES MORI all scored for their clubs.

It hasn’t been the best start to the season for Paulo DYBALA. The jewel has been relegated to the bench more than once and he still had not scored a goal. However, DYBALA got a rare start and the former Palermo man scored his first goal of the season for Juventus, in their 2-0 win against Bologna.

The Argentine was included in the last Argentina squad and is expected to be called-up for the next one as well.

Still in Italy, Javier PASTORE managed a goal of his own in Roma’s 4-0 win against Frosinone. PASTORE’s was a back heel finish (not the first one he has scored this season) as he scored his second of the season.

In Spain and playing out of position, Ramiro FUNES MORI scored his first of the season for his new club as Villarreal won 3-0 against Athletic Bilbao.

FUNES MORI was playing as a defensive midfielder instead of a center back.

Geronimo RULLI mistake for Real Sociedad in La Liga draw against Rayo

Argentina goalkeeper Geronimo RULLI once more was at fault for a goal he let in for his club.

If last season wasn’t a good one for RULLI, this one isn’t starting off too much better. The former Estudiantes goalkeeper was called-up for Argentina and received his first cap in the team’s 3-0 win against Guatemala. Yet despite the call-up, RULLI hasn’t had the best of performances for Sociedad.

A less than stellar performance against Barcelona was later followed by a poor showing in Sociedad’s 2-2 draw against Rayo Vallecano. Speaking with Spanish media MARCA, RULLI had this to say about his displays:

“I’ll change the whistles for applause, this is the goal in my head. I want to thank the fans who applauded me and have supported me, while this club has taken care of me as if I have come through the youth system.

“In my head I am fine, I am remaining calm and will look to turn the situation around, and of course it was frustrating we did not win.

“Now I am only worried about training and competing to ensure the coach has confidence in me again.”

This is following the performance of Sergio ROMERO of Manchester United where ROMERO was sent off for handling the ball outside of the penalty area.

Argentina goalkeeper Sergio ROMERO sent off for Manchester United

Argentina goalkeeper Sergio ROMERO was sent off for Manchester United in their 2-2 (8-7 penalty) loss to Derby County.

In a rare start for his club, goalkeeper Sergio ROMERO got himself red carded for handling the ball outside of his penalty area. Prior to his sending off, ROMERO was playing well, despite letting in a goal (a fantastic free kick which left ROMERO flat footed).

With the match tied at 1-1, the ball was coming forward and ROMERO came out of his penalty area and as the Derby player shot the ball, ROMERO extended himself and blocked it with his left hand outside of the area.

Sergio ROMERO is expected to be included in Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI’s squad for the upcoming friendly matches.
