26

Julian CAMINO, one of Alejandro SABELLA’s assistants, spoke about the Argentina National Team, Mauro ICARDI and more.

Speaking with Fox Sports, Alejandro SABELLA’s assistant commented on why they left the Argentina National Team, their experience with Argentina and more. Here’s what he had to say:

About Alejandro SABELLA:

“He’s well. His treatment is over. It’s been a crazy 5 months, he’s recovered. Hopefully we can have him on the pitch at any moment.”

Why they left the National Team after the World Cup:

“We left the National Team because money wise, it’s not too good for a coach. Alejandro was 60 and told us “Well, we’ll go to Europe for 3 or 4 years.” But unfortunately he had health problems and we couldn’t go.”

About Mauro ICARDI:

“We saw him well. We had 10 good days together. It seemes that at the time there was no problem. The truth is that he’s a great kid. He was 20 when he was with us.”

About the players in the National Team:

“The experience we had was excellent. We had some great years with them. DIBOS’ comments surprised me but everyone has their experience.”

Edgardo BAUZA to get fired as Argentina coach on Monday

49

News coming out of Argentina is that Edgardo BAUZA will get fired on Monday.

It’s been an eventful week in Argentine football. From Lionel MESSI’s suspension to the humiliating loss to Bolivia in the World Cup Qualifiers, a lot has happened. A new AFA president has been named as Claudio “Chiqui” TAPIA was elected as the new man in charge after receiving 40 votes out of a possible 43 in the elections.

Even since before TAPIA took over, there were rumors that Edgardo BAUZA’s days as Argentina National Team coach were numbered. The new president doesn’t appear to be a fan of the current coach and while rumors have been swirling all week long, reports coming out of Argentina are that BAUZA will be fired on Monday. If you’ve been following what has been said in the media, Jorge SAMPAOLI is one of the main candidates to coach the Argentina National Team should Edgardo BAUZA get fired.

However, the Sevilla coach was also one of the prime candidates to take over last year when Tata MARTINO stepped down as Argentina coach and the job ultimately went to Edgardo BAUZA. It remains to be seen if the new coach would be announced right away or if the AFA would wait until deciding on a new one. Argentina’s upcoming match is in June against Brazil in a friendly match to be held in Australia. Their next World Cup Qualifier is away to Uruguay in Montevideo in August.

Hernan CRESPO on Gonzalo HIGUAIN: “It’s psychological”

33

Legendary Argentina forward Hernan CRESPO spoke regarding Gonzalo HIGUAIN.

The former number 9 has commented on Argentina’s current number 9 Gonzalo HIGUAIN ans about how he thinks that HIGUAIN’s key misses in finals are down to psychological factors. Speaking to Omnisport, here’s what Hernan CRESPO had to say:

Hernan CRESPO’s comments:

“This is more a question for a psychologist, as his technical abilities are beyond any doubt.”

“It’s like a chain reaction. It’s not rare for this to happen in a final – it can happen to anyone. The thing is if you have the mental ability to accept the mistake, and in the next final to have forgotten the previous error.”

“Obviously, in his case, certain mistakes in finals are being added to his history. He can’t avoid remembering them. I repeat: this is more a psychological question than a technical one.”

As seen above, CRESPO was talking about Gonzalo HIGUAIN’s key misses in finals.
