Argentine Champions League preview: Lionel MESSI, Paulo DYBALA, Sergio AGUERO, more

The second leg of the Round of 16 starts on Tuesday as we preview the Argentine players.

Manchester City bring a 3-2 lead from the first leg against Schalke. Sergio AGUERO had scored in that match while Nicolas OTAMENDI was sent off which means he will miss the second match at the Etihad in Manchester.

Diego SIMEONE’s team won the first match 2-0 in Madrid as his Atletico travel to Turin against Juventus and Paulo DYBALA.

Lionel MESSI will play at the Camp Nou as FC Barcelona are against Lyon. The first match ended 0-0 and there’s all to play for with qualification to the quarter finals up at stake.

Facundo FERREYRA scored for Espanyol in their 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao.

The Argentine scored his first goal for his new club. With just 9 minutes into the match, a right footed shot by FERREYRA beat the goalkeeper to give Espanyol the lead.

Lucas BIGLIA scored the first goal for AC Milan in their 2-1 win against Chievo.

The Argentine veteran scored a great free kick for Milan on their way to getting the full 3 points. Milan were awarded a free kick and the 33 year old’s right footed shot beat the goalkeeper and into the net.

Mateo MUASCCHIO also started the match.

Lionel MESSI scored for FC Barcelona in their 3-1 win against Ray Vallecano.

The Argentina and FC Barcelona captain was named in his country’s squad selection for this month’s matches and in the first match after being selected, scored and assisted. Rayo Vallecano took the lead but the Catalan club were awarded a free kick before the end of the first half. Lionel MESSI send in a lovely cross into the area and Gerard PIQUE was at the end of it and scored to draw Barcelona level.

Ernesto VALVERDE’s team would be awarded a penalty kick and up stepped MESSI. The fifth best player in the world would score to give his club the lead. The assist was number 12 of the season and the goal number 26, meaning he leads Europe’s top five leagues in goals and assists.

Luis SUAREZ would go on to add a third goal.
