Lucas BIGLIA’s injury could likely be a long term one.
The Lazio captain has undergone medical tests for his injury suffered on Sunday and it appears he could be out for three months, according to Football-Italia. It is believed that he has torn his left calf. Should that be the case, not only would BIGLIA miss October’s World Cup Qualifying matches (which was already a certainty) but as well as the November fixtures against Brazil and Colombia.
There’s already some rumors as to who Edgardo BAUZA will call-up as replacements to the two injured players.
With Lucas BIGLIA and Augusto FERNANDEZ both picking up injuries on Sunday, there are rumors that two players from the Argentine Primera will be called-up as replacements. Santiago ASCACIBAR and Ivan MARCONE are the two names being rumored to be called-up as replacements.
Sergio AGUERO, Sergio ARAUJO, Gio SIMEONE, Renato CIVELLI and Alexander SZYMANOWSKI all scored on the weekend.
It’s been a weekend of Argentine goals in Europe but of the lesser known names. Beginning in England with the “top star”, Sergio AGUERO scored goals number 10 and 11 of the season in Manchester City’s 3-1 win against Swansea on Saturday. Alexander SZYMANOWSKI has scored for Leganes in their 2-1 loss to Valencia. SZYMANOWSKI also had a penalty saved in the match.
In Italy, Diego SIMEONE’s son, Gio SIMEONE has scored his first goal in Italy for Genoa as they drew 1-1 against Pescara.
This time in France, Renato CIVELLI scored Lille’s only goal of the match in a 3-1 loss against Sainte-Etienne.
It’s apparently injury Sunday for Argentine players as a second casualty has fallen.
Augusto FERNANDEZ’s injury problems persist as he was substituted off on a stetcher for Atletico Madrid. The injury for Augusto appears to be in his right knee. It did not look good for FERNANDEZ.
FERNANDEZ, along with Lucas BIGLIA, is the second Argentine player to be substituted off due to an injury on Sunday.
The first injury for Argentina has already hit with the first victim being Lucas BIGLIA.
Lucas BIGLIA had to be substituted off 10 minutes into the first half for Lazio in their match against Empoli. The injury left BIGLIA in tears on the bench. The severity of BIGLIA’s injury is unknown but with World Cup Qualifiers just over a week away, it can’t be good for him.
