According to TyC Sports, Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni will not be able to have Messi for the entire match against Peru on Tuesday but the goal is to try and see if he can play 60 minutes.

Emiliano Martínez; Nahuel Molina, Cristian Romero, Nicolás Otamendi, Nicolás Tagliafico; Rodrigo De Paul, Enzo Fernández, Alexis Mac Allister, Nicolás González; Julián Álvarez or Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martínez or Messi.

Lionel Messi comments on Sanabria spitting incident during Argentina match

Lionel Messi commented on a spitting incident involving Paraguayan player Sanabria during Argentina’s World Cup qualifying match.

Messi did not start for Argentina against Paraguay in Thursday’s World Cup qualifier but he did come on as a substitute. There was an incident where he was shown speaking with Sanabaria and as Messi turned, a camera caught Sanabria spitting in Messi’s direction.

This has caused a lot of controversy and Messi spoke about the incident after the match. Here is what he had to say:

“Sanabria? They told me in the locker room that someone spat on me. The truth is that I don’t even know who that boy is. I prefer not to talk, otherwise he’s going to go out and talk everywhere and will be known.”

The Paraguayan Sanabria has come out and stated that he did not spit at Messi and that the camera angle made it look closer than it was.

Emiliano Martínez breaks Argentina national team clean sheet record

Emiliano Martínez has broken the Argentina national team clean sheet record.

Martínez was the starting goalkeeper for Argentina in the 1-0 win vs. Paraguay and 32 minutes into the match, he made history. Germán Burgos had previously gone 606 minutes without letting in a goal for Argentina which was a record and that record is now broken.

The World Cup winning goalkeeper surpassed the 606 minutes only 32 minutes into the second half against Paraguay. The last goal he let in was in the World Cup final and he has now gone 622 minutes without letting in a goal.

Nicolás Otamendi scores early, Argentina win 1-0 vs. Paraguay in World Cup qualifiers

Nicolás Otamendi scored an early goal for Argentina in the 1-0 win vs. Paraguay in the World Cup qualifiers.

Otamendi started the match as captain, with Lionel Messi on the bench and he did what Messi normally does and that is score. Rodrigo De Paul sent a cross into the penalty area off a corner kick and the 35 year old defender struck the ball on the volley and scored.

Rodrigo De Paul would nearly get a goal himself but he hit the post before the end of the first half. Nicolás González had a chance at the very end of the first half but his effort went just wide. Alexis Mac Allister had the dribble of the match in the first half as he cut through several Paraguayan players inside the penalty area but was unable to score.

Lionel Messi came on as a substitute for Julian Alvarez in the second half and while he did not score, he did hit the post twice. The first was a corner kick where he nearly scored an olimpico goal but his effort hit the post.

Messi would get a free kick at the end of the match but once more, he would hit the post. Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni made substitutions in the second half with Leandro Paredes coming on for Enzo Fernández, Gio Lo Celso for Rodrigo De Paul and Lucas Ocampos for Nicolás González.
