Lionel Messi scores, wins Leagues Cup with Inter Miami in dramatic fashion

Lionel Messi scored an incredible goal and won the Leagues Cup with Inter Miami.

Messi continues to score highlight reel worthy goals. In Inter Miami’s first ever final in club history, Lionel Messi scored the first goal of the match against Nashville in the final.

With a handful of Nashville players in front of him, the Best player in the world curled the ball and scored to give Inter Miami the 1-0 lead. That brought Lionel Messi to 10 goals in 7 matches.

Nashville would draw level and after that both teams would get chances and for Inter Miami it was a Lionel Messi effort which hit the post. With the final kick of the 90 minutes, the ball fell to Campana who who flicked the goalkeeper but his effort hit the outside of the goal.

The match went to penalty kicks and Lionel Messi scored his, going to the goalkeeper’s left. All 11 players from both teams would take penalty kicks and it was Inter Miami goalkeeper making the save on the last kick which won them the Leagues Cup.

This trophy now brings Lionel Messi to a record 44 career trophies won. No player has won more trophies.

Julián Álvarez scored his first goal of the season in Manchester City’s 1-0 win vs. Newcastle.

Álvarez scored the goal which made it two wins out of two to start the Premier League season for the reigning champions. After scoring in the UEFA Super Cup penalty shootout, the Argentine scored the only goal of the match to give them the win.

The 23 year old received the ball just inside the penalty area and his effort beat the goalkeeper and gave Manchester City the 1-0 lead which would prove to be the win.

Lautaro Martínez scored two goals for Inter in their 2-0 win vs. Monza.

Martínez has started the Serie A season in spectacular fashion, scoring two goals for Inter. A low pass into the penalty area by Dumfries and Lautaro got the better of his marker and scored from close range to give Inter the 1-0 lead.

The newly appointed Inter captain was on the end of an Arnautovic pass into the penalty area and scored the second goal of the match. Lautaro was substituted off to a standing ovation while Joaquín Correa was an unused substitute.

Valentín Carboni was brought on as a substitute in injury time for Monza while his brother Franco remained on the bench.

Nicolás González scored a header for Fiorentina in their 4-0 win vs. Genoa.

González got his first goal of the season in Fiorentina’s opening league match. The Argentine, now the club’s new number 10, scored Fiorentina’s third goal of the match, a header off a corner kick. The 25 year old scored 14 goals and had five assists last season.

Lucas Beltrán also made his Fiorentina debut as he came on as a substitute in the second half.

Icardi cannot stop scoring goals for Galatasaray. The Argentine has now made it three goals since the start of the season for his club, having previously scored in a Champions League qualifying match.

With the score at 0-0, the ball fell to the 30 year old and he would dink the goalkeeper to give Galatasaray the 1-0 lead. The Argentine would also score during injury time of the second half.

A cross into the penalty area and Icardi would score with a header to make it 2-0 to the reigning Turkish league champions.
