Claudio Echeverri scored in what was a mixed set of results for Argentine clubs in the Copa Libertadores.

Echeverri continued to show why he is one of the most promising young players in Argentine football. In match day two of the Copa Libertadores, Echeverri scored from long range to give River Plate the 1-0 lead in a 2-0 win vs. Nacional.

Guido Carrillo and Edwuin Cetre scored for Estudiantes in their 2-1 win against The Strongest. Estudiantes and River Plate were the two Argentine teams with wins this week.

Rosario Central fell 2-1 against Atletico Mineiro and San Lorenzo lost 2-0 against Independiente del Valle. With their loss, Rosario are in third place in Group G behind Atletico Mineiro and tied on three points with Peñarol.

San Lorenzo are tied in last place in Group F with Liverpool, both teams on one point each. Palmeiras and Independiente del Valle are both on four points.

River Plate lead Group H with six points and Estudiantes are in second place, tied for first with Huachipato on four points in Group C, ahead of The Strongest and Gremio.

Ángel Di María scored for Benfica in their 2-1 win vs. Marseille.

Di María made it four goals in five Europa League matches for Benfica. With Benfica leading 1-0, the 36 year old ran towards the Marseille back line and played a pass in to Neres who pulled it back to Ángel Di María and he scored to give Benfica the 2-0 lead.

The World Cup winner has 16 goals and 13 assists for Benfica.

Rodrigo De Paul scored for Atletico Madrid in their 2-1 win vs. Dortmund.

De Paul got his first Champions League goal in the Champions League. With the score at 0-0, Dortmund tried to play out from the back but a pass was intercepted by De Paul and the Argentine would score from inside the penalty area to give Atletico the 1-0 lead.

Nahuel Molina also started the match for Diego Simeone’s team and Ángel Correa was brought on as a substitute.

The AFA to try and move Argentina vs. Ecuador to Buenos Aires

The AFA will try to move Argentina’s friendly match vs. Ecuador in June to Buenos Aires, per a report by TyC Sports.

Although it wouldn’t be easy since the company promoting the event in the United States already has an agreement, the AFA likes the idea of having a farewell for the national team at home before the Copa America.

As of now, the Albiceleste has two friendly games scheduled, one on June 9 against Ecuador at Soldier Field in Chicago and the other one vs. Guatemala on June 14 at Commanders Field in Washington DC.

Champions League quarter final preview: Atletico Madrid host Dortmund

The Champions League quarter final matches continue on Wednesday with a match involving three Argentine players and a manager.

Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid host Borussia Dortmund in one of the matches on Wednesday. Rodrigo De Paul, Ángel Correa and Nahuel Molina are all fit to play for Atletico.

Paris Saint-Germain host FC Barcelona in the second match.
