Julián Álvarez scored for Manchester City in their 4-1 win vs. Liverpool.

Álvarez was involved in three of Manchester City’s goals in their win. Liverpool took the 1-0 lead as Jack Grealish would play a pass into the penalty area and the Argentine would score from close range.

The World Cup winner was not done. He played a big part in Manchester City’s second goal as he would switch the play from left to right to Mahrez who would get an assist on Kevin De Bruyne’s goal.

Manchester City were leading 2-1 when Álvarez created space for himself with his off the ball movement. His initial effort on goal was blocked but the rebound fell to Grealish who would score City’s third goal of the match.

Argentina U17 with 4-2 win vs. Venezuela at Sudamericano

The Argentina U17 team started their Sudamericano with a 4-2 win vs. Venezuela.

Diego Placente and his Argentina U17 team started the tournament with three points as they will try to qualify for the U17 World Cup. Argentina have been drawn with Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.

It was a great run across the penalty area by Ulises Giménez who found Claudio Echeverri and he would score from the edge of the penalty area to give Argentina the 1-0 lead. Argentina’s second goal was a show of unselfeshness.

A counter attack by Agustín Ruberto, Santiago López and Echeverri as Ruberto passed it to López, he would pass it to Echeverri who would beat the goalkeeper and pass it back to López who would score.

At 2-1, Juan Giménez would give away a penalty and Venezuela would score their first goal of the match. Venezuela would draw level. But Argentina would get one more before the end of the first half.

Claudio Echeverri with a nice movement around the penalty area and he would find Agustín Ruberto with a finish to give Argentina the 3-2 lead. More unselfish play by Argentina’s attackers would lead to another goal.

Once more it was Echeverri to Agustín Ruberto and he would score to make it 4-2 for Placente’s team. Argentina lead Group B with their next match against Bolivia on Sunday.

FC Barcelona coach Xavi spoke about Lionel Messi’s potential return to the club.

A former team mate of Messi’s at Barcelona, the club legend and current coach Xavi commented about the rumors and reports about a potential return of the Best player in the world. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, here is what Xavi had to say:

Gianni Infantino on U20 World Cup: “Argentina’s candidacy is only one presented”

Gianni Infantino has stated that Argentina’s candidacy for the 2023 U20 World Cup is the only one that has been presented.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino made a big announcement on Thursday. Having met with AFA president Chiqui Tapia and CONMEBOL president Alejandro Dominguez, Infantino spoke at a conference on Thursday about Argentina being the possible host for the U20 World Cup. Per a video by DobleAmarilla, Infantino said the following:

“Today, Argentina’s candidacy is the only one that has been presented and with guarantees of the government.

“In two or three days, the FIFA Bureau has to make a decision.”

The World Cup would start on May 20 and this would all but make it official that Argentina will be hosting the U20 World Cup.

Increasing reports that Argentina will be new U20 World Cup host

Reports are continuing to come in that Argentina will be named as the new hosts of the 2023 U20 World Cup.

There are increasing reports in the Argentine media that the country could be named as the new hosts of the tournament today. According to Esteban Edul, there are increasing chances that they will be named as the new hosts and even stating the possible venues.

FIFA president Infantino met with AFA president Claudio Tapia and CONMEBOL president Alejandro Dominguez on Thursday and a confirmation could be made soon. If Argentina are named as hosts, there would be five stadiums for the matches.

The stadiums for the matches would be the Monumental, the Madre De Ciudades, the Mario Kempes stadium and the Malvinas Argentinas. There would be one stadium left and it would be between Racing’s stadium or the Único de La Plata.

Indonesia were removed as the host country by FIFA on Wednesday due to political issues with Israel. If Argentina are named as the new hosts, they will be participating in the tournament.
