Argentina to train on Tuesday, all eyes on Ángel Di María

The Argentina national team will be training on Tuesday afternoon with all eyes on Ángel Di María.

Lionel Scaloni gave the team a day off on Sunday after their 2-1 win vs. Australia in the Round of 16 but the team was back training on Monday. Ángel Di María and Papu Gómez both did recovery work on their injuries.

Scaloni will have already started thinking about the Netherlands in the quarter finals on Friday and on how Ángel Di María is progressing. Di María missed the win vs. Australia due to a muscle overload and if he is fit, is expected to be in the starting eleven in the quarter finals.

Argentina to wear home kit, white shorts vs. Netherlands at World Cup

The Argentina national team will wear the home kit with white shorts and white socks vs. the Netherlands at the World Cup.

Argentina will wear the sky blue and white shirt in the quarter finals but it will not be with black shorts and black socks. Instead, the team will wear white shorts with white socks as the referee will be wearing all black.

This is the first time that the team would be wearing the white colored shorts and socks at this World Cup, having previously worn black shorts and black socks when wearing the sky blue and white shirt.

Dani Alves of Brazil has spoken avbout Lionel Messi and on the possibility of an Argentina and Brazil semi final at the World Cup.

The Brazilian legend spoke to the media after Brazil’s Round of 16 win vs. South Korea. When asked about Lionel Messi, here is what he had to say:

“Messi right now is Argentina. Everything goes through him. Everything goes through his feet. I believe that he is in an incredible moment. Without a doubt, he is one of the players to take into account in this competition.”

Argentina will play the Netherlands in the quarter-finals while Brazil will play Croatia. Dani Alves was also asked about the possibility of an Argentina and Brazil semi final at the World Cup:

“We are not here to choose an opponent, whoever is selected, we are going to have th put everything we have into it to be able to fight for the objective. We cannot think of a semi final because we are in the quarter finals. Out of respect for Croatia and our opponent, we have to focus on this match. Croatia has a lot of quality players and deserves 110% of our attention.”

Ángel Di María and Papu Gómez do not train with Argentina national team

Ángel Di María and Papu Gómez did not train with the Argentina national team on Monday.

Argentina had a day of rest on Sunday, as coach gave them a day to spend with their families after the 2-0 win vs. Australia. The team was back training on Monday and were without Di María and Papu Gómez as they were doing kinesiology.

Di María did not play vs. Australia as he has a muscle overload. He was replaced by Papu Gómez in the starting eleven and he injured his ankle in the match.

Carlo Ancelotti has commented on the Argentina national team, Lionel Messi, Julián Álvarez and Enzo Fernández.

The legendary and multi time league and Champions League winning coach has commented on Lionel Scaloni’s team. Ancelotti posted the following on his Instagram:

“With the Round of 16 matches the World Cup now enters a decisive stage, perhaps the most exciting one. At the moment we have the Netherlands and Argentina in the quarter-finals.
