Lionel Messi has commented on the World Cup, Ángel Di María, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuaín.

Messi has given an interview where he spoke about the World Cup and latest injuries to the Argentina national team. Speaking in an interview with Pablo Giralt, here is what Messi had to say:

“It’s a concern. This is a different World Cup because it’s played at a different time than previous ones. And we are so close that any little thing that can happen to you can leave you out.

“On a personal level, it worries you and to see things like with Paulo (Dybala) or Fideo (Ángel Di María), it frightens you, between quotation marks. It turns in your head but to go out to play thinking that could have a contradicting effect too. The beset thing is to continue normal, play and that is the best way to be well. I believe that Dybala and Di María have plenty of time to arrive well.”

He also spoke about Gonzalo Higuaín:

“I believe people were very unfair to him. He was treated badly by one part of the media, the people consumed that and brought it into the stadiums.

“Higuaín was terrible because he had a spectacular career. It was very difficult because what he did, playing in the best teams in the world, always performing, scoring goals, becoming champion and from there scoring at a Copa America, at a World Cup.

“What happened to Higuaín happened to many in the group. After having won the Copa America, people start to recognize more that road. Those moments were very difficult and we got to a final of a World Cup and two Copa America’s. That’s not something small, it’s difficult.”

Emiliano Dibu Martínez commented about coach Lionel Scaloni, the World Cup, the Argentina national team and Lionel Messi.

Dibu Martínez spoke about Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni. Speaking in an interview with ESPN, here is what he had to say:

“A lot of credit to the coach (Scaloni). No one knew myself and Cuti. At times, people thought I was more English than Argentine. I told him thank you, thank you for the support in me when no one knew me.

“One will die for him on the pitch. Scaloni est a super humble guy. He knows how to get to the players. He talks to you as a peer, to everyone. I’m a little unaware. It’s hard for me to think where I have gotten. But when I go to Argentina, I spend time there and I see the affection of the people.”

Martínez also commented on the World Cup and the Argentina national team:

“The truth is that it surpasses the dream. My dream was to play a match with the Argentina national team. When I played the Copa America, I dreamed of winning. Now comes the World Cup, I dream of winning it. I dream of being the best goalkeeper at the World Cup. It’s my dream and I am prepared for that. We don’t know if we will win but it’s clear that I dream of it.

“The goalkeeper needs a personality. Today, the goalkeeper knows how to play with the feet. When you feel small in goal, hit the post and go in. The people give me energy, they stop a shot with me, we feel that support.

“We are 40 million Argentines in goal, I don’t want to fail them. When you hear the anthem, it gives you confidence, hope. I go to the goal and my feet weigh but when the game start, I feel agile.”

Regarding Lionel Messi:

“He is a super open guy, you always have respect but I am someone who messes around, otherwise, I get bored in training. He enjoys that a lot too. When we won the Copa America, Leo looked like a baby. I cried like a baby. We all looked like kids on a field trip. We were together for 45 days and there was no fighting, that united the group a lot.”
