Lionel Messi has been include in the FIFA FIFPro Men’s World XI team.

Messi has been included in the FIFA FIFPro Men’s World XI every year since they began doing the nominations. The nominations began in 2007 and along with Angel Di Maria, is only one of two Argentine players to ever be included.

For the award, Messi voted for Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema, in that order. Coach Lionel Scaloni voted for Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

The Argentine is part of the eleven players with Lewandowski, Haaland, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kante, Jorginho, De Bruyne, Dias, Bonucci, Alaba and Donnarumma being the other 10 players.

Erik Lamela has won the Puskas award for the Best Goal of the Year.

Lamela is the first Argentine to win the award as his goal for Tottenham Hotspur last year against Arsenal won him the votes. The Argentine had previously score a rabona for Tottenham back in 2014 in a Europa League match.

Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton is in the preliminary list of players for the Argentina national team.

Mac Allister could be back in the Argentina national team. According to TyC Sports, the Argentine has a real chance of being included for the January and February World Cup qualifying matches.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni is expected to announce his team for the January and February World Cup qualifying matches by Tuesday. Scaloni will reportedly rest several players and call up players who are not regularly in the team.

Messi is expected to remain with PSG and miss Argentina’s two World Cup qualifying matches in January and February. According to TyC Sports and TN Deportes, coach Lionel Scaloni will not select Messi as the Argentine looks to regain his full fitness.

Argentina play Chile on January 27 away from home and Colombia on February 1 at home in the World Cup qualifiers. The Copa America champions are already qualified for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Juan Foyth of Villarreal is injured and he could miss Argentina’s matches this month.

Foyth is expected to be called up to the Argentina national team for the World Cup qualifiers. The defender suffered an injury during Villarreal’s 1-0 loss against Elche and is a doubt for the national team.

The 24 year old was substituted off with muscular problems which was originally diagnosed as discomfort in his left hamstring. More tests will be done this week.
