Nicolas Tagliafico got himself red carded for Ajax in their 2-0 loss vs. PSV in the Johan Cruijff Schaal match.

It was the Dutch Supercup, the first match of the season and not a good start for Tagliafico. Ajax coach Erik ten Hag started both Argentina Copa America winners Nicolas Tagliafico and Lisandro Martinez in the loss but it was Tagliafico who made the headlines for the wrong reason.

With PSV leading 2-0, Tagliafico slid in with a rough challenge as the referee gave him a straight red card in the 40th minute. Ajax were down to ten men as PSV would go on to win.

Lisandro Martinez would be replaced late in the match by Lisandro Magallan.

Mauro Icardi scored his first goal of the season for PSG in their 2-1 win vs. Troyes.

Icardi opened his account for the season and it proved to be the match winner. Mauricio Pochettino started Mauro Icardi as Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes were not part of the squad for the first match of the season.

With the score at 1-1, a cross by Herrera found Mbappe who controlled it down and played a pass into to the Argentine. Icardi would control it and an outside of the foot finish would give PSG their second goal of the match.

The former Inter man, already 28 years old, was not part of the Argentina squad which won the Copa America last month. With the World Cup coming up next year, he will have to produce some good performances should he want to be in with a chance to take part in the tournament.

He finished last season with seven goal in 20 league matches.

Following FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta’s press conference, everyone has been wanting to hear from the man himself. It’s necessary to listen to the most important voice, that is that of Leo Messi. He will speak in an auditorium of the Camp Nou stadium and will close an era not only in the club, not only in the league, but in the history of football.

Lionel Messi has spent more than half of his life at the club and it was announced earlier this week that he will not be continuing at Barcelona.

Cristian Romero has officially signed with Tottenham and has been presented as a player.

Romero is now in the Premier League. After weeks of speculation, the 23 year old Argentina Copa America winner joins from Atalanta.

Cuti will wear the number four shirt at the club where he will be playing alongside fellow Copa America winner with Argentina, Gio Lo Celso. Named as the best defender last season in Serie A, Tottenham posted a video of Romero presenting himself.

Lionel Messi is reportedly close to joining Paris Saint-Germain.

It’s been an eventful 24 hours in Lionel Messi’s life and football in general. After it was announced that he would not be continuing with FC Barcelona, club president Laporta came out and confirmed that Messi will indeed be playing elsewhere.

Since the news broke, rumors began circulating about where Messi would indeed be playing this season. While last season it appeared to be a two horse race between PSG and Manchester City, this time around, it’s only one.

Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as the sole club that Messi would be interested in joining. According to several reports, PSG are already in negotiations with Messi’s entourage.

In addition, TNT Sports in Argentina have reported that either Friday or Saturday, Messi will take his private plane to Nice, France where he will meet with PSG to discuss his transfer.

Messi has reportedly been offered the number 10 shirt by Neymar should he join. Reliable transfer man Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that negotiations are progressing well and that PSG are convinced that they can sign him.

If the transfer were to happen, Messi would play alongside Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes, two players that were also part of the Argentina Copa America winning team. Mauro Icardi is another Argentine at the club with Mauricio Pochettino at the helm.

There are also rumors that PSG have reserved the Eiffel Tower on August 10.
