Lionel Messi plays Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid in the big game in Spain as Gio Lo Celso and Tottenham play Manchester City in the big match in the Premier League.

Nicolas Otamendi will miss Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay while eight players are one yellow card away from missing the game against Brazil next year.
Argentina national team coach will be without Nicolas Otamendi when his team plays Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier. The match will take place in Argentina on March 21 but Otamendi will miss that match due to the yellow cards he received against Ecuador and Peru in the last match.

Lionel Messi commented on the team’s 2-0 win against Peru and the growth of the team.
Messi had one of his better matches despite not scoring. He played the pass into Paredes who got the assist for Lautaro Martinez on the second goal of the match. He would also track back and defend and nearly scored himself. Speaking after the match, here’s what he had to say:
“I’m happy for the win, we needed it after the match we had the other day. From the start we were great, we got the goals and we created a lot of scoring chances.
“The second half of the other match was very good and I believe we continued down the same path, even going up a level. I believe this is the path we have to continue on. Little by little, we are becoming stronger as a group.”
The Argentine also spoke about his inclusion in the team:
“I always come here with the intention of giving my all and I feel I am capable of fighting for this shirt. I feel well in continuing working and playing matches.”
The first half was one of the best by Argentina in recent memory with two goals and it could have been more.
Despite scoring twice, it was Peru which came close to opening the score. A chance for Peru as Armani came out to close the angle and the forward’s shot went wide. After a check on VAR, no penalty was taken and we remained score less. Argentina came close to scoring minutes later, a low pass was sent into the area and Lautaro Martinez opted to take the shot rather than letting it run for Nicolas Gonzalez who was behind him.
Argentina would score after great play. Nicolas Tagliafico, back from injury, with a lovely play with Nicolas Gonzalez and Gonzalez would score from inside the penalty area his second goal in two matches. The team was not done yet.
Lionel Messi, who was tracking back and making passes helped create the second goal. His pass onto Leandro Paredes lead to Paredes playing it into Lautaro Martiez as Lautaro would dribble around the goalkeeper and score to double Argentina’s lead.
Scaloni would make one change early in the second half as Lucas Ocampos would come on for de Paul. Lionel Messi would get tripped inside the penalty area but no check by the referee or by VAR as play would continue. Messi would get a scoring chance, one which he created. A run towards goal saw him beat a defender but his shot would go just wide.
Nicolas Gonzalez would come off for Angel Di Maria and Alejandro Papu Gomez on for Lautaro Martinez as the last change of the match.
