Villarreal coach Emery comments on Juan Foyth possibly joining FC Barcelona

Villarreal coach Unai Emery spoke about the rumors regarding Juan Foyth possibly joining FC Barcelona.

Unai Emery has made Foyth an important part of his team. The 24 year old is a regular starter for the club but FC Barcelona have reportedly turned their attention to Foyth with a meeting held on Tuesday.

Emery spoke at a press conference on Wednesday regarding Foyth. Here is what he had to say:

“Foyth is very happy here, he tells me that he’s calm but the market is open and there could be some unwanted exists. And if someone pays the clause or a player says that they have a very attractive offer, the situation could change.”

The Argentine joined Villarreal on loan in 2020 from Tottenham Hotspur and signed with the club last year.

  1. Based on the above comments, it sounds like he wants to leave, Emery is basically saying if FCB pays and he wants to go there is nothing for me to say.

    • Spanish clubs are not doing great financially. The club won’t turn down or play hard if the 40m release clause is met.

  2. English football is not fit for all Argentina players…probably this is due to language culture and the type of football played in England…we all see the Argentina players getting gelled or acamalitise in Spanish or Italian leagues so well

  3. Not sure how to read Emery’s comments. It sounds almost that he admits he could be gone in 2 weeks.

I have said many times I like our players in the top teams. When you play for Real Madrid you go out to win every time, its a mindset shift. The level of physical conditioning, game preparation, tactical analysis all are at a different level. Sometimes top teams fail, have a bad season but the mentality is there. Our players are talented (raw talent), at the ones who are in NT. Rest is development, health and mindset.

All the best to Juan Foyth!
