Gonzalo Pity MARTINEZ has been named the South American Player of the Year.
A big achievement for the 25 year old as he is the first Argentine to win the award since Andres D’ALESSANDRO back in 2010 with Internacional. It’s good news for MLS club Atlanta United as that looks to be his next destination.
MARTINEZ won the Copa Libertadores with River Plate and even earned played his first match and scored a goal for Argentina this past year.

This year for Argentina kicks off with a tournament, one for the future. The U20 South American youth cup will take place from January until February. As we reported when the draw took place, the kids have been drawn in Group B along with Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador and Peru.
As we have been doing for several years, we’ll have full coverage of the tournament.
After that comes the March friendly matches with the anticipated return of Lionel MESSI. His case is no secret, he hasn’t been part of the team since the World Cup but many reports claim that he will be there in March.
Following the friendly matches comes the Copa America. While Argentina are not going in as one of the favorites, it will be a fresh look team and one to build for the future.

Sergio AGUERO scored for Manchester City in their 3-1 win against Southampton.
The Argentina man scored his fifth goal in his last nine matches in the Premier League against Southampton. He also has four assists to his name during that period.

Gonzalo HIGUAIN ended a long goal drought as he scored the winner for AC Milan.
It had been 866 minutes since Gonzalo HIGUAIN last scored a goal for AC Milan but a goal in the 64th minute gave AC Milan a 2-1 win against SPAL.
HIGUAIN received the ball inside the area, took a touch away from the defender and scored the winner. After the match, HIGUAIN had this to say about Milan coach GATTUSO:
“GATTUSO has always believed in me, given me confidence and has always been very direct with what he thinks. He deserves all credit for my goal.”

Borussia Dortmund have reportedly made a bid for Argentina U20 and Boca Juniors defender Leonardo BALERDI.
Per Cesar Luis MERLO, the German club have submitted a bid of €12 million for BALERDI.
