Ignacio PIATTI scores for Montreal Impact against Tata’s Atlanta United

Ignacio PIATTI scored for Montreal Impact in their 2-1 loss to Gerardo “Tata” MARTINO’s Atlanta United.

In a game which was postponed due to rain and thunder, PIATTI netted his 11th goal of the season in 21 matches. The former San Lorenzo man received the ball inside the penalty area and a shot into the top corner of the near post pulled one back for Montreal. However, it wasn’t enough as Tata MARTINO’s men extended their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference with 47 points.

Here’s Tito VILLALBA with a lovely nutmeg.

With all the supposed changes coming to the AFA and the Argentina National Team, maybe players like Ignacio PIATTI, Ezequiel BARCO (also of Atlanta United) or even Hector VILLALBA (who did start the match) should get a look at in the team?

Joaquin CORREA is set to join Serie A club Lazio from Sevilla.

A €16 million move with an additional €3 million in add-ons will reportedly be enough to seal Joaquin CORREA’s switch to Italy. Per reports, the transfer is expected to happen with both clubs exchanging documents in order to make the transfer happen.

CORREA is no stranger to Italy having spent one season there playing for Sampdoria following his 2014 move from Estudiantes. In his last season at Sevilla, CORREA managed 7 goals in 39 matches for his club.

Walter KANNEMANN are reportedly interested in signing the six foot defender.

According to a report by Cesar Luis MERLO, Serie A club Cagliari are looking to sign KANNEMANN of Gremio. Based in Brazil, the 27 year old defender joined his current club in 2016 and has two Copa Libertadores titles to his name. The first coming in 2014 with his former club San Lorenzo and the second with his current club.

It appears as though a €3 million offer has been submitted by Cagliari but that bid has been rejected. A second bid is rumored to be coming.

Mauro ICARDI scores, Lautaro MARTINEZ assist, Inter draw Sheffield United

Mauro ICARDI scored as Lautaro MARTINEZ played a fantastic ball into the area in Inter’s 1-1 draw against Sheffield United.

A total of three Argentine players took part in the match, all three, unsurprisingly, playing for SPALETTI’s team. Mauro ICARDI and Lautaro MARTINEZ both started while Facundo COLIDIO came on as a substitute for the Inter captain. Lautaro MARTINEZ displayed great vision as he sent in a ball from midfield to pick out CANDREVA who slid the ball in for Mauro ICARDI for the goal.

COLIDIO spoke to Inter’s official website regarding his appearance in the match. The former Boca Juniors man had this to say:

“It was a great feeling to play in England, football was invented here and it’s always evocative to play in these stadiums. It was a tough game with Sheffield United. We’re still in the midst of full preparations while they’re further along. What does it mean to train daily with Icardi and Lautaro? It helps me a lot to learn and improve.”

With this match taking place at Bramall Lane, Inter’s next match will be on Saturday July 28 against Chelsea in Nice.

Javier ZANETTI talks Argentina, Lionel MESSI and more

12

Legendary figure of the Argentina National Team and Inter was on Fox Sports Argentina to discuss the National Team, Lionel MESSI and more.

There’s been a lot of talk going around in the media since Argentina’s elimination at the FIFA World Cup. However, ZANETTI is adament that changes must be made to the National Team and that they have to restart from scratch. Here’s what he had to say:

“With the Argentina National Team, we have to start from zero. It’s time to construct the National Team. Analyzing the last few years, it’s logical to see what happened in Russia.

“The National Team is bigger than any player. If the AFA ask me for help, I would gladly help them but my career is in Italy.”

As seems to be the case for the better part of a decade, when talking about the Argentina team, one is always asked about Lionel MESSI. ZANETTI himself addressed the rumors that his club Inter were being linked to MESSI but quickly shot them down. He also stated that he’d like to see MESSI wear the Argentina shirt once more.

“It’s crazy nonesense. There’s no truth that we are out for MESSI.

“I’d like to think that MESSI’s time isn’t over yet. Hopefully we get to enjoy MESSI a bit more. At the World Cup, the team just didn’t work.

“You don’t have to compare MESSI and MARADONA.”

As for his playing career, Javier mentioned that he was surprised Inter spotted him and that he could have played one more year. ZANETTI also said that that newly signed Argentine Lautaro MARTINEZ is the future of the Argentina National Team.

“I couldn’t believe that Inter had noticed me. I could have played one more year but I wanted to retire on a good note.

“I believe that Lautaro MARTINEZ deserves an opportunity. He is the future of this National Team.”

And finally, a word on his former team mate with the Argentina National Team, Diego SIMEONE:

“El Cholo is becoming more and more (better) day by day.”
