We are just 4 days until the start of the FIFA World Cup and in 4th place we have Argentina losing to Uruguay at the 1930 FIFA World Cup final where Uruguay scored 4 goals.

It was the first ever FIFA World Cup final held in Montevideo, Urugay. In the battle between the two neighboring countries, Pablo DORADO scored the first ever goal in a FIFA World Cup final in the 12th minute. Carlos PEUCELLE drew level in 20th minute and Guillermo STABILE netted Argentina’s second to give his country a 2-1 lead going into half time.

Uruguay started off the second half in strong form when Pedro CEA scored the equalizer. Santos IRIARTE ended up scoring the match winner in the 68th minute before Hector CASTRO sealed Uruguay’s FIFA World Cup triumpth.

We are just 5 days until the start of the FIFA World Cup and in 5th place we have Argentina defeating the United States by a five goal difference at the 1930 FIFA World Cup.

It was Argentina’s “semi final” match (the last game before the final itself) and it was Argentina against the United States. After having defeated France 1-0, Mexico 6-3 and Chile 3-1 in the previous three matches, the team would go on to thump the U.S by a five goal margin.

Luis MONTI opened the scoring in the 20th minute and it was the only goal of the first half. The second half saw a total of five goals with Alejandro SCOPELLI scoring in the 56th followed by a pair of goals by Guillermo STABILE (first in the 69th and the second in the 87th minute) and Carlos PEUCELLE scoring two others.

With the score at 5-0, the United States managed a goal through Jim BROWN.
