Argentina to play Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador, Peru in U20 Sudamericano

The draw has been made for the U20 Sudamericano (South American Youth Cup) and Argentina’s opponents in the group stage have been known.

Argentina have been drawn in Group B alongside Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador and Peru. Group A will consist of Chile (the hosts), Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia and Venezuela. The tournament will take place between January 17 and February 10 of next year.

Teams finishing in the top four will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup which will take place in Poland. The top three teams will also qualify for the 2019 Pan American Games.

Qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics will take place in the Pre-Olympic tournament to be held in 2020 to determine who will make it to the summer games.

Argentina will play their opening match on January 20 against Paraguay. The second match will come on January 22 against Ecuador. Two days after that on January 26 they will play against Uruguay before finishing the group on January 26 against Peru.

Mauro ICARDI scored for Inter in their 1-1 draw against FC Barcelona in the Champions league.

A goal which gave Inter a valuable point, the former Barcelona youth player managed to score from close range inside the area following work by Argentina team mate Lautaro MARTINEZ. This was also goal number three in four games for ICARDI in the Champions League, having previously been on the mark against Tottenham and PSV.

Lionel MESSI, who while did not take part in the match due to injury, did take a picture with Argentina and Inter legend Javier ZANETTI. The two were obviously also former team mates with the Argentina national team.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego SIMEONE has spoken about the upcoming Copa Libertadores final involving Boca Juniors and River Plate.

SIMEONE is no stranger to the Superclasico, having coached River Plate in 2008 for one season. However, now coaching in Europe, SIMEONE gave his thoughts on the final. Speaking at a press conference in Madrid, here’s what SIMEONE had to say about it.

“As an Argentine, very happy because last season Lanus represented us in the final of the Libertadores and this year, it’s a repeat (of Argentine clubs) with Boca and River. It speaks very well of the grows that Argentine football has had the last few years. It’s very good for all Argentine’s.

“It will be a fantastic match, with a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of passion and hopefully in peace.”

Boca Juniors vs. River Plate – Superclasico Copa Libertadores dates set

Arguably the biggest matches in Copa Libertadores history final have dates announced as Boca Juniors will play River Plate in the final of South America’s biggest club competition.

The two Superclasico finals (or as they have been called, the Super Finals) will be played on Saturday’s instead of the usual weekdays which are given to the other match days of the competition. The first match will be at Boca’s Bombonera stadium on Saturday, 10th of November. The second will come two weeks later on November 24 at River Plate’s Monumental.

Both matches are expected to be without away fans, although that news has been changing every day.

Champions League Match Day 4 Preview: Lionel MESSI a doubt for Barcelona

Matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League kicks off Tuesday and the big clash is that of Inter Milan against FC Barcelona.

When Mauro ICARDI and Lautaro MARTINEZ Host FC Barcelona on Tuesday, the Catalan club might start the match without captain Lionel MESSI. The Argentine who has missed the last few weeks due to a shoulder injury is expected to get the green light but may start on the bench.
