Ezequiel GARAY to be called for Argentina

10

Valencia defender Ezequiel GARAY is expected to be called-up to the Argentina team.

The World Cup finalist is going to receive his first shout back to the Argentina National Team in two years. Per a report by TyC Sport, GARAY will make the list later today when Jorge SAMPAOLI releases it. As we reported yesterday, Alejandro GOMEZ of Atalanta is also expected to make it after receiving his first call-up against Brazil and Singapore back in June but being dropped for the last round of World Cup Qualifiers.

Long time Argentina number 9 Gonzalo HIGUAIN will reportedly miss out on the team once more with Mauro ICARDI retaining his spot on the team. Augusto FERNANDEZ (out with an injury) and Guido PIZARRO (picked up a knock against Liverpool earlier this week) will both miss out on the list. However, Angel DI MARIA, who was substituted off in the first half against Venezuela, should make the team.

The list for the two matches will be out later today.

Argentina list to be announced tomorrow, GOMEZ included

Alejandro GOMEZ of Atalanta is expected to be called up to the Argentina National Team.

Papu GOMEZ is set to receive his second call-up for his country when Argentina coach Jorge SAMPAOLI announces his list of players for next month’s World Cup Qualifiers. One who is very much likely to miss out yet again is Juventus’ Gonzalo HIGUAIN.

According to the same Tweet, Diego PEROTTI of AS Roma and Lucas ALARIO of Bayer Leverkusen both have chances of being included in the list. Nicolas PAREJA is not expected to be included in the team and per a report by La Nacion, a spot could open up for Ezequiel GARAY, German PEZZELLA or even MAMMANA. Augusto FERNANDEZ and Guido PIZARRO will not be included (both due to injuries), however, Eduardo SALVIO will be on the team and possibly even Angel DI MARIA.

Tomorrow, SAMPAOLI is expected to announce the European based list for the last two matches against Peru and Ecuador.

It has been confirmed, Argentina will play next month at La Bombonera.

Confirmed earlier today on the official Argentina Twitter account, the National Team will be playing next month’s crucial World Cup Qualifier against Peru at Boca’s La Bombonera stadium.

The stadium was sanctioned and approved by FIFA for the match. As we’ve been reporting for a week now, the AFA have been thinking of playing the match at that stadium and on Monday got the approval from CONMEBOL.

Joaquin CORREA steals point for Sevilla against Liverpool

Joaquin CORREA drew Sevilla level in their 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

The team from Merseyside made their return to the Champions League but it didn’t go exactly as planned. After falling behind to a goal, Liverpool drew level and then took the lead. With a 2-1 command on the game, the home side were awarded a penalty kick and a chance to put the match away. Up stepped the Brazilian FIRMINO but his penalty hit the post.

Fast forward to the second half and we get Joaquin CORREA running at the end of a ball in the Liverpool penalty area and he slots the ball passed the goalkeeper for Sevilla’s second of the match.

CORREA wasn’t the only man from Argentina to score in the Champions League this week with Lionel MESSI and Sergio AGUERO both finding the back of the net.
