Gonzalo HIGUAIN, DYBALA sink Tottenham in Juventus win

Gonzalo HIGUAIN and Paulo DYBALA sank Tottenham as they each scored in a 2-1 win.

The first set of matches for the second leg of the Round of 16 in the Champions League is over and two Argentinians played hero’s for Juventus. Following a 2-2 draw in the first leg, Tottenham took a first half lead at Wembley, meaning that Juventus absolutely needed at the very least two goals to stay in the competition.

Two goals is exactly what they got from their two forwards to eliminate Mauricio POCHETTINO’s Tottenham from the Champions League. The first coming from Gonzalo HIGUAIN, a poacher like finish from the Juventus number 9 saw them draw level and give the old lady the boost of confidence it certainly needed to get a second goal.

Having scored a match winner in the 93rd minute, Paulo DYBALA scored another winner this time just minutes after HIGUAIN’s goal. DYBALA beat the offside trap and was one on one with Hugo LLORIS and the Argentinian jewel did not make a mistake and excellently fired the shot into the net.

Fabricio BUSTOS of Independiente linked with Bayern Munich

Fabricio BUSTOS of Independiente is being linked with Bayern Munich.

The German giants are reportedly interested in signing the Independiente right back, according to Kicker. With defender RAFINHA’s contract expiring at the end of the season, the current Bundesliga champions will look to sign BUSTOS.

Spending his entire career with Independiente, the big move to Bayern could be what BUSTOS needs at this time in his career. Having impressed in their Copa Sudamericana win against Flamengo, BUSTOS has been rumored to receive a call-up to the Argentina National Team for the friendly matches in March. He could be following in the footsteps of former Independiente team mate Nicolas TAGLIAFICO who joined Ajax in Europe.

Champions League Second Leg Round of 16 – Preview 1

The UEFA Champions League Second Leg Round of 16 begins this week!

A blockbuster of a match on Tuesday and a tight affaired one on Wednesday as the second leg of the Round of 16 gets under way. A 3-1 win for Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeau against PSG meant that the current tournament holders go into Paris with a fairly big advantage.

With NEYMAR out of the squad for the match due to a long term injury, Angel DI MARIA is sure to start up front for PSG against his old club after having been left out of the first match. Whether Giovani LO CELSO and Javier PASTORE start is another story but PSG making it through to the next round could do wonders for the Argentinians.

The other match on Tuesday is Liverpool at home to FC Porto and after having carried a 5-0 away aggregate win, Anfield will surely be rocking.

On Wednesday are last year’s finalists Juventus away in London to Tottenham. The first match ended 2-2 with Gonzalo HIGUAIN scoring both goals in Turin. With Paulo DYBALA having scored a late winner over the weekend, it could be the boost he needed to be back in the starting eleven. All eyes will be on Wembley.

Manchester City, like their English counterparts Liverpool, picked up a big win away from home in the first leg as they scored four times in Switzerland against FC Basel. With Gabriel JESUS back from injury, this match could see Sergio AGUERO get some rest.

Champions League Second Leg Round of 16 – Tuesday:

Champions League Second Leg Round of 16 – Wednesday:

A sublime Lionel MESSI free kick for career goal number 600

A sublime Lionel MESSI free kick was enough to give Barcelona a 1-0 win against Diego SIMEONE’s Atletico Madrid.

His third free kick in three matches, Lionel MESSI really has a knack lately for putting it behind the goalkeeper from distance. As a matter of fact, he has a knack for scoring… Often. MESSI’s goal against Atletico Madrid was goal number 600 in his senior career.

MESSI has amassed 61 goals for the Argentina National Team and 539 goals for FC Barcelona.

The win takes the Catalan club 8 points ahead of Atletico with both teams having played 27 matches and have 11 matches remaining in La Liga. Following the match, Atletico Madrid coach Diego SIMEONE had this to say about Lionel:

“If MESSI had been wearing an Atletico shirt, we would have won.”

Lionel is now on 24 goals and 12 assists this season in Spain, making him the leader in both goals and assists, remarkable, even for MESSI.

Former FC Barcelona and England international striker Gary LINEKER called MESSI the best ever.

There was another Argentinian who scored a match winner for his team, Paulo DYBALA scored the late clincher against Lazio.

Paulo DYBALA late winner, Angel DI MARIA and more score

A Paulo DYBALA late winner for Juventus, an Angel DI MARIA chip goal while Diego PEROTTI and Lucas ALARIO also score for their clubs.

It’s been a rollercoaster of a season for the jewel in Turin. In and out of the team while also getting injured has meant that DYBALA has been left out of Jorge SAMPAOLI’s latest Argentina squad. Just days after being left out of said list, DYBALA gave SAMPAOLI something to think about with an incredible winner.

With the Serie A title race being as tight as it can be, DYBALA scored in the 93rd minute to give Juventus a 1-0 victory away against Lazio. DYBALA started the play running in midfield before receiving the ball once more at the edge of the area, playing the ball through the legs of a Lazio player and scoring while being on the ground. An incredible piece of genius from a player who maybe feels like he has something to prove.

Still in Italy, a goal from a player who did make the latest Argentina squad as Diego PEROTTI scored for AS Roma in their 4-2 win against Napoli. PEROTTI took advantage of a free ball in the area to fire it into the back of the net.

From Italy to France, Angel DI MARIA continues his excellent form adding goal number 17 of the season for him in PSG’s 2-0 win against Troyes. DI MARIA scored a lovely little chip goal as he dinked the ball over the goalkeeper to open the scoring for PSG. DI MARIA, who is regularly getting rotated in the team, with this great form, could be going not only into the international break but into the World Cup fully rested.

In 2018, Angel DI MARIA has now scored 13 goals and has 9 assists in 15 matches.

While not in the Argentina squad anymore, Lucas ALARIO is slowly making a name for himself at Bayer Leverkusen as he scored in their 2-1 win against Wolfsburg. ALARIO’s goal came off a penalty kick.
