Two more names are on the injured list, with one missing the Copa America and the other with a foot out.

In addition to Pablo ZABALETA and Javier PINOLA, goalkeeper Agustin MARCHESIN and defender Leonel VANGIONI are also out. MARCHESIN suffered an injury to his left shoulder which will reportedly keep him out until June 15, ruling him out of the Copa America.

VANGIONI has suffered a tear and reports out of Argentina are that he has one foot out of the Copa America for Argentina.

Speaking to the media in Argentina, VANGIONI had this to say:
“I spoke to the medical team in Argentina and it’s very difficult that I’ll play at the Copa America”.

Videos: League goals scored by forwards

0

With the European club season fully wrapped up (save for Copa del Rey final in Spain left to be played), it’s time to look at the numbers of our forwards. Looking at only the top 4, it’s safe to say Argentina isn’t short on talent in the forward department.

Fourth in the table is the Serie A champion Paulo DYBALA. La joya’s impressive 19 goals helped lead Juventus to yet another league title.

In third is Sergio AGUERO who managed to score just two less than his good friend MESSI. AGUERO, who was fighting knocks throughout the season ended his Premier League campaign with 24 goals in 30 matches.

In second comes Argentina’s crowning jewel, Lionel MESSI. The Albiceleste captain missed two months of the season due to injury but still managed to find the back of the net 26 times in 33 matches.

Topping the goalscoring league charts among the Argentine forwards is Napoli’s Gonzalo HIGUAIN who amassed a total of 36 goals in 35 matches this season in Serie A. Though it wasn’t enough to win the league, HIGUAIN did break a Serie A record dating back to the 1949-1950 season. What’s even more impressive is when you consider the talent (or lack there of) surrounding Gonzalo compared to DYBALA, AGUERO and MESSI.

Here are videos of all their league goals this season.

Gonzalo HIGUAIN’s 36 league goals:

Lionel MESSI’s 26 league goals:

Sergio AGUERO’s 24 league goals:
