Guido PIZARRO called-up, BIGLIA out for Argentina

Lucas BIGLIA is out of the Argentina team.

Lucas BIGLIA has been ruled out of the Copa America due to injury and Tigres (Mexico) player Guido PIZARRO has been called-up as a replacement.

Argentina could be out of Copa America

Problems within the AFA could mean Argentina will not take part in the Copa America.

There are big problems within the AFA and there’s concern that the National Team (along with any other Argentine club in international competitions) could be kicked out of the Copa America and their respective tournaments.

The AFA have suspended the upcoming elections (July 30) and the government is intervening in the AFA. The situation is such a mess and it’s possible that Argentina does not take part in the tournament.

Should the team not take part in the tournament, the AFA would be fined 5 million dollars, plus damages plus exclusion from the upcoming 2 editions of the tournament.

A final decision is expected on Tuesday.

The general feeling is that while this is all very real, it’s unlikely to happen as the AFA, CONMEBOL and all other organizers and sponsors would stand to lose a lot of money.

Argentina have arrived in the United States for the COPA AMERICA

Argentina have arrived and will have first practice session today!

Hey everyone,

The Argentine national team have arrived yesterday in the United States.  Their “bunker” is in Santa Clara, California where they will train until their first match against Chile on Monday June 6.

The team will be welcoming Augusto Fernandez and Matias Kranevitter today as well.  Their first official practice will also be today.  Lionel Messi is planning to join the team later in the week as he is scheduled to go on trial in Barcelona over the alleged and never-ending tax fraud case.  He also seems to be recovering well from his back injury scare but it still has not been determined if he will be fit enough to start against Chile.
