Lionel Messi trained separately from the group as coach Lionel Scaloni held a training on Saturday.

Messi trained separately due to small overloads. According to Gastón Edul, he is fine for the opening game against Saudi Arabia.

Lisandro Martínez and Exequiel Palacios also trained different but there is nothing to worry about. Scaloni tried out a back line of Nahuel Molina, Cristian Cuti Romero, Nicolás Otamendi and Marcos Acuña.

In midfield, it was Rodrigo De Paul, Leandro Paredes and Alexis Mac Allister. Every player is expected to be fully fit for the opening game.

Romero has been the subject of a lot of rumors and reports lately regarding his fitness. One of the first players to arrive to the Argentina camp for the World Cup, Romero did not play in the 5-0 win vs. United Arab Emirates.

Ángel Correa and Thiago Almada have arrived to Qatar.

Correa and Thiago Almada have landed in Qatar and are with the Argentina national team. They are the last two players to arrive as they replaced the injured Nicolás González and Joaquín Correa.

Marcos Acuña and Papu Gómez are both fit and no changes are expected for Argentina.

Acuña and Papu Gómez will remain with the Argentina national team as coach Lionel Scaloni will not be making any more changes. According to TyC Sports, the team will stay as is after both players trained on Friday with the team.

Lionel Scaloni and the Argentina national team coaching staff put Acuña through physical tests in training on Friday as there were fears about his fitness. Scaloni has already called up Ángel Correa to replace Nicolás González and Thiago Almada replaces Joaquín Correa in the team.

Gio Simeone and Roberto Pereyra have been added to Argentina’s reserves for the World Cup.

Simeone and Pereyra join Juan Musso and Facundo Medina as the reserves for Argentina. According to Fernando Czyz, those four players are the reserves should something happen.
