Exequiel Palacios was substituted out with discomfort for Bayer Leverkusen.

Palacios started Bayer Leverkusen’s game vs. Hertha but was replaced after only 41 minutes. He is part of the preliminary Argentina team for the September games vs. Honduras and Jamaica.

The 23 year old has continuously been part of the Argentina national team. Argentina play their first game on September 23 vs. Honduras but the severity of his discomfort remains to be seen.

Gabriel Batistuta scores in charity game

Gabriel Batistuta scored in a friendly game earlier this week.

Batistuta is once more scoring. The legendary and most prolific number nine in the history of the Argentina national team turned back the clock.

The 53 year old striker took part in a charity game earlier this week in Italy where he scored in the Partita del Cuore 2022 event. It was a pass from the legendary Francesco Totti and Batistuta would score.

Emiliano Martínez has been nominated for the August Premier League Save of the Month.

Martínez made a save for Aston Villa against Crystal Palace and that save could win him an award. The Premier League announced the best saves for the month of August and Dibu Martínez is included. Here are the names of the goalkeepers nominated for the award:

Enzo Fernández named Player of the Month in Portugal

Enzo Fernández of Benfica has been named the August Player of the Month in Portugal.

Fernández won the award in his first month at his new club. The 21 year old joined them from River Plate and got a goal in his first league match against Arouca.

The Argentine won the award not because of his goals or assists, as he only had one goal, but because of his consistency and play. He has started all five league matches for Benfica.

Javier Mascherano’s Argentina U20 win 2-0 vs. Uzbekistan

Javier Mascherano’s Argentina U20 team won 2-0 vs. Uzbekistan.

Mascherano has made it one draw and one win in the first of three games to be played in Uruguay. Following the 1-1 draw vs. Brazil on Tuesday, the team played against Uzbekistan on Thursday.

The Argentina U20 team took a 1-0 lead off a free kick. A cross by Axel Encinas into the penalty area found Tomás Kummer who scored with a header.

A foul onto Ovando meant a red card for Uzbekistan. Argentina also played against Brazil with a man advantage in the first game after they had a player that was red carded.

Argentina scored their second goal and once more off a cross into the penalty area. The cross would somehow find Maestro Puch and he would score to give Argentina the 2-0 lead.
