Sergio Agüero was forced to retire from football in December 2021 but there were reports, including a statement from the former player himself that he would join Argentina for the World Cup.

Agüero gave an interview on Monday where he spoke about a number of topics. One of which was the Copa America itself but he did give an answer regarding him joining the Argentina national team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Speaking with TyC Sports, here is what he had to say:

“I’m going to Qatar and we will see after in what role. It was a nice chat. Chiqui has acted very well with us and he was the one that asked us to meet. In the next days we will continue to talk and see in what role I will go and see if we will go to the World Cup draw. Now, this week, we will resolve everything. What Chiqui has always stated is that I will be with the boys, I will be there. It’s to be next to them.

“I want to look for a role with Argentina. What happened to me is very recent and I got offers from different places but I want to enjoy it and to be calm, not like when I wasn’t able to when I was playing football.

“For example, it’s the first birthday I was able to spend with my son in Argentina with his and my family, all of us together. That for me was good and as a player I couldn’t do that.”

Regarding winning the Copa America with the Argentina national team:

“After what happened to me, I thought at least I won a title with the Argentina national team. It was something that with all of my team mates we were waiting and dreaming of and the truth is that I am left with the month we were there for the Copa America. It was my last joy. Today I look at photos and it makes me smile.”

Jamie Carragher had nothing but good things to say about Cristian Romero following Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-2 win vs. Manchester City.

Carragher was impressed by the Argentine as the former Liverpool defender spoke highly of the Tottenham Hotspur defender. As we reported on Monday, Romero had a great performance for his club in their 3-2 win vs. Manchester City which was reflected in the numbers. Speaking with Sky Sports, here is what Carragher had to say about him:

“He really impresses me, this fella I think Spurs have got a really top defender.

“I do think the three centre backs, mainly Eric Dier and Romero, have been excellent for Tottenham. Every time a ball has come into the box, more often than not it’s been their head on it.

“That man Romero has been as good anybody on this pitch.”

Lionel Messi reached 800 club matches in his career following PSG’s match against Nantes.

Messi reached another milestone in his career. Lionel Messi provide an assist for PSG in their 3-1 loss vs. Nantes and that match was number 800 in his club career. While playing most of his club matches with FC Barcelona, it was with PSG that reached that magical number.

Scoring 679 goals and providing 312 assists, 672 of them came with FC Barcelona with 120 of them in the Champions League with the club. With PSG, he has seven goals, two of them in Ligue 1 and five of them in the Champions League.

He has provided 303 assists for FC Barcelona and nine with PSG. These numbers from Transfermarkt. These numbers exclude Argentina national team matches.

Richarlison spoke about a hypothetical World Cup final against Germany or Argentina.

The Brazilian has once more spoken about the Argentina national team. After being interviewed by ESPN earlier in the month and commenting on Argentina, Lionel Messi and the Copa America, the Everton striker gave his views on a hypothetical World Cup final. Speaking with TNT Sports, here is what he had to say:

“I would prefer Germany in the World Cup final over Argentina. The Argentine is a half cheat and we know how they are when they are winning, no? I prefer Germany, who knows if we will beat them.”
