Argentina vs. Brazil to be replayed, four players suspended, FA’s fined

Argentina against Brazil in the World Cup qualifiers will be replayed as four Argentine players are suspended.

The World Cup qualifying match between Argentina and Brazil which was suspended will be replayed but at a later date. The match was stopped after only just minutes following Brazilian officials storming the pitch.

An announcement was made by FIFA which stated that it will be replayed and at in a neutral venue. Both the Argentine and Brazilian FA’s have been fined.

Lionel Scaloni will not be able to count on four Argentine players for two matches as Cristian Romero, Emiliano Martinez, Emiliano Buendia and Gio Lo Celso are all suspended for two matches each. Those are four players which were all based in the Premier League when that match took place.

Neal Maupay of Brighton wants to play for Argentina national team

Neal Maupay of Brighton has stated that he would like to play for the Argentina national team.

Maupay has already represented France at youth level but the Brighton striker wants to play for Argentina. The 25 year old’s mother is from Argentina as he has French and Argentine citizenship.

He was the player who injured Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno which opened the door for Emiliano Martínez to play for the club and get selected for the Argentina team for the Copa America. Speaking in an interview with Deportes LN, here is what he had to say:

“In the last call up, I told Alexis Mac Allister to talk to the coach about me. To tell him that there is a Frenchman who is a nationalized Argentine who wants to play. I feel a great love for the country.”

With Brighton, he has scored eight goals in 21 matches this season.

Ángel Correa scored twice for Atletico Madrid in their 4-3 win vs. Getafe.

Correa continues to lead Atletico Madrid in goals as he has scored 10 times in La Liga this season. Atletico’s January Player of the Month opened the scoring as he got on to the end of a loose ball inside the penalty area.

The Argentine made it 3-3 as once more the ball was crossed into the penalty area but this time Correa headed it to draw Atletico level. He would play 74 minutes before being substituted out.

Rodrigo De Paul was also brought on as a substitute as he took part in the last 16 minutes of the match.

Gio Lo Celso and Geronimo Rulli were two of Villarreal’s their 0-0 draw vs. Real Madrid.

Rulli was awarded the Man of the Match as he has now reached 11 clean sheets in La Liga this season, as he is joint in the Zamora race. Against Madrid, the Argentine made five saves, four of them inside the penalty area as he has yet to allow a goal in the last three league matches.

Lo Celso was the Villarreal player who created the most chances with two. He also won the most duels with eight and was the second player with the most passes made in Real Madrid’s half with 34 of them. Lo Celso played 87 minutes before being substituted off.

Juan Foyth also started for Villarreal and was the Villarreal player with the most tackles in the match with four tackles. He played a great match, shutting down Vinicius as the team got a clean sheet.

Papu Gómez continues his good form as he scored another goal for Sevilla. The Argentine would receive the ball on the left wing as he would cut inside and take a shot. His short would deflect off the defender and go in as he would give Sevilla the 1-0 lead.
