Joaquin Correa scores twice for Lazio in 4-3 win vs. Genoa

Joaquin Correa scored twice for Lazio in their 4-3 win vs. Genoa.

Correa continued his fine form as for the second match in a row, he scored twice. He would receive the ball in the penalty area for the first goal, control it with his left foot but the defender would try and clear the ball as it bounced off of Correa and into the back of the net to give Lazio the 1-0 lead.

There was no luck on the second goal. Correa would get the ball inside the penalty area as he would cut inside and his right footed shot could not be completely stopped by the goalkeeper as it would go in for Lazio’s fourth goal of the match.

The Argentine has now scored 5 goals in his last four matches and is expected to be part of the final Argentina squad for the Copa America.

A big congratulations to Lautaro Martinez and Inter as they have dethroned Juventus to win Serie A.

Lautaro Martinez helped lead Inter to their first Serie A title since the 2009-2010 season where the club won the treble. It was a team led by Javier Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso, Walter Samuel and Diego Milito which delivered Inter their first treble and last Serie A title over 10 years ago.

Martinez has scored 15 goals and assisted eight times for Inter in the league this season. This is Lautaro’s first league title in his career as he looks to help lead Argentine to their first senior title in over 25 years when the Copa America begins next month.

Sergio Aguero scores for Manchester City, closer to Premier League title

Sergio Aguero scored for Manchester City in their 2-0 win vs. Crystal Palace as they are closer to winning the Premier League.

Aguero scored a goal which, not for the first time in his career, may have won Manchester City the Premier League title. Back in the starting eleven for Pep Guardiola’s team, Aguero delivered. With the score at 0-0 in the second half, Aguero received the ball inside the penalty area. Argentine controlled it beautifully and struck it into the rood of the net to give City the 1-0 lead.

Regarding the Premier League title, should Manchester United lose to Liverpool on Sunday, Manchester City will be crowned Premier League champions.

While they would go on to score a second, Pep Guardiola praised the Argentine after the match. Speaking to BT Sport, here’s what he had to say:

“What a goal, what an action, what a player, what a man. I’m incredibly delighted he’s back. We’re going to enjoy the last games with him, and he showed with his goal what he has, being what he is. I’m in love as a person. An incredible guy.”

Kun himself spoke about the match and the upcoming second leg clash vs. PSG:

“I’m ready. Before, I said, ‘finally I could play’. I feel good, my knee is so good. I’ll just wait to play. I hope Tuesday, if I don’t, it doesn’t matter. I want to be with my team. Every player wants to play. We’ll see.”

Lucas Alario injured for rest of season, will miss Copa America

Lucas Alario is out injured for the rest of the season, according to Bayer Leverkusen.

Alario, along with Bayer Leverkusen and the Argentina national team received bad news as it was announced that the striker is out injured for the rest of the season. An injury to his right leg will mean the Argentine will miss Leverkusen’s remaining matches and the Copa America.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni will have to start thinking of another option instead of Alario. The club announced on Friday that he has sustained a muscle tendon injury in his right thigh while training and that it will keep him out for 6-8 weeks.

The Copa America is from June 13 until July 10 and it would surely mean that Alario would at best case miss the start. Alario looked to be one of the forwards certain of a spot in the team for the tournament.

The semi-finals of the Europa League will take place today as there are still six Argentine’s left in the tournament.

Three at Villarreal, two at AS Roma and one at Manchester United and at least one of them will make the final later next month. Manchester United host AS Roma in the first match with Villarreal playing hosts to Arsenal in the other.

For Manchester United, the only Argentine remaining at the club is goalkeeper Sergio Romero who had been linked with a move away from the club over the past two transfer windows. No longer back-up goalkeeper, Romero will not be taking part in the match. Their opponents, AS Roma, have double the representatives.

Javier Pastore and Federico Fazio have a slightly better chance than Romero in taking part in the match. Already 31 years of age, Javier Pastore missed the entire first half of the season due to injury. He has taken part in only two league matches, both of them coming earlier this month.

His team mate Federico Fazio has played many more matches this season and even took part in Roma’s last league match vs. Cagliari.

Juan Foyth has been getting many more opportunities and matches at Villarreal as opposed to his time with Tottenham. In his own little personal north London derby, the former Spurs man will try to shut down Arsenal as Unai Emery’s men look for a place in the final.

Team mate Ramiro Funes Mori has been in and out of the squad for Villarreal and it remains to be seen if he will start the match vs. Arsenal on Thursday. The third and final Argentine in the team likely has the best chances of starting the match.

Geronimo Rulli has started 10 of the 12 Europa League matches this season for Villarreal and is their cup keeper. Still only 28 years old, Rulli signed a four year deal with the club at the start of the season.
