Dybala was substituted off due to an injury and was replaced by fellow Argentine Gonzalo Higuain in the final league game of the season. However, Juventus had a Champions League match on August 7 vs. Lyon where the team lost the first leg 1-0 in France.

Juventus have released the following medical update on Dybala on their website:

Emiliano Buendia, Roberto Pereyra, Ignacio Pussetto relegated from Premier League

Three Argentine players were relegated from the Premier League as Emiliano Buendia, Roberto Pereyra and Ignacio Pussetto will not be part of the first division with their current teams.

Norwich City finished bottom of the Premier League table with Watford right above them and both teams along with Bournemouth will be playing in the Championship next season. Those three teams saw a combined three Argentine players.

Emiliano Buendia will likely have a few teams looking to sign him as he has impressed throughout the season. Despite only scoring one league goal all season, his energy and overall play would make him a great addition to any team. Still only 23 years old, Buendia has spoken about wanting to play for the Argentina national team and should he want to succeed in his dream, he would have to move clubs. His contract with the club expires in 2024 but Norwich might be looking to cash in.

Roberto Pereyra joined Watford back in 2016 and has been with the club for four years. A solid workhorse of a player and now 29, Pereyra could be looking for potentially one more move as his deal with the club expires next July.

Ignacio Pussetto is the third Argentine as he joined Watford last summer. Joining on a four and a half year deal, the 24 year old forward has yet to be capped by the Argentina national team.

The two Argentine players have once more won the league in Italy following their 2-0 win vs. Sampdoria. For Paulo Dybala, it’s his sixth Serie A title in a row and seventh league title in a row overall after having won Serie B in 2013-2014 with Palermo. The 26 year old scored 11 goals in 32 matches in the league, more than doubling his tally of 5 goals from last season.

Gonzalo Higuain has now won three Serie A titles. His first two were 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 and he scored seven goals in 29 matches this season.

For Juventus, they have now won 9 league titles in a row, bringing their tally to 36 titles.

Rodrigo de Paul comments on Argentina national team, Lionel Messi, more

4

Rodrigo de Paul has been an important player for coach Lionel Scaloni with the Argentina national team and the Udinese player spoke about his adaptation in the team, Lionel Messi and more.

De Paul has already played a Copa America with the team and proved to be an important player for the squad. Speaking in an interview with TyC Sports, he commented on the importance of making Lionel Messi feel comfortable on the pitch. Here’s what he had to say:

“We want Messi to feel comfortable. That is our main goal, that on the pitch, he feels confident. At times, it’s difficult to be Messi because you have to attack, you have to talk to the referees and other things. Listen, first thing is to make him feel comfortable. We try to find him as close to the penalty area and the goal as possible. There, the opponent has to move a little.

“Hopefully we could reach the same thing as the previous generation in making Messi feel happy for reaching finals. We were extremely excited about the Copa America but it didn’t happen.”

Regarding the Argentina national team and his adaptation:

“The most important thing is to wear the Argentina shirt in as many matches as possible. If that means I have to play 10 years somewhere to keep going, I’ll do it. For me, the Argentina national team is one of the most important things. Obviously I think I could get the same kind of continuity that I have with Udinese at a bigger club.

“The Argentina shirt is not easy. I think I was able to adapt quickly. Also, when the captains, the coaching staff or the experienced players make it easy for you, it makes the adaptation process easier.”
