Claudio TAPIA: “Argentina’s leaving as world champions”

1

AFA president Claudio  TAPIA was on Susana Gimenez’s television program on TyC Sports on Sunday where he talked about the Argentina National Team.

TAPIA was seen backstage hugging Lionel MESSI following Argentina’s 3-1 victory against Ecuador. The president was full of praise for his country’s captain. Speaking about the World Cup, MESSI and Argentina, here’s what he had to say:

Claudio TAPIA on MESSI and the World Cup:

“Buy all the tickets because Argentina’s leaving as world champions. MESSI shows to be one thing but he’s totally different. He’s very supportive, he greeted everyone. He’s a great person.”

Claudio TAPIA on Argentina:

“I heard a lot of people saying that it was necessary for us to miss the World Cup to hit rock bottom. But that’s wrong, you can’t think like that. Not going to a World Cup is not hitting rock bottom, it’s punishment. Today, we’re all dreaming of Russia.

“We have to back the coaching staff and support the players. We’re calm for having qualified for the World Cup and bringing in more money to the AFA.”

Boca’s man of the hour was speaking on TyC Sports and he was asked about whether he would play a Superclasico between Boca and River Plate or Argentina’s friendly match against Russia. Here’s what his answer was:

Dario BENEDETTO on Boca and Argentina

“Obviously the National Team is above everything. I don’t want to be misunderstood with what I’m saying. Playing a Boca vs. River, as a player, the most beautiful thing, it’s a match from another world. But obviously the Argentina National Team is above everything.”

About playing the World Cup

“I have to continue working here because there’s still a lot to go. I lived two beautiful weeks with the Argentina National Tean. My dream is to play in the World Cup.”

Mauro ICARDI hat trick for Inter in derby win

A Mauro ICARDI hat trick for Inter sealed a 3-2 derby win.

Three points in the bag thanks to three goals from Mauro ICARDI. A captain’s performance from the Inter man who scored once in the first half and twice in the second half, his third, a 90th minute penalty.

The first goal came off a cross coming in from ICARDI’s right hand side as he swooped the ball into the back of the net. The second though was the real beauty. Lucas BIGLIA of AC Milan had the ball in midfield but ICARDI pick-pocketed it off him and made a run, passing it to the left to PERISIC who sent in a bouncing pass into the area and a half volley by Inter’s number 9 as the ball went in, hitting the side netting.

ICARDI sealed his hattrick in the 90th minute off a penalty kick. He has now scored 9 goals in 8 matches this season, and four goals in his last two Derby Della Madonnina.
