Argentina preliminary team down to 28 players, two to be cut before World Cup

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has his preliminary lsit of players for the World Cup down to 28 players with two more to be cut.

Lionel Scaloni submitted a first list of 46 players which was cut down to 31 players. According to Gastón Edul, that list is down to 28 players.

Scaloni will have to cut it from 28 to 26 with the deadline to announce the World Cup team being next Monday on November 14. Here is the list of 28 players:

The Argentina national team staff are optimistic about Paulo Dybala’s inclusion for the World Cup.

Paulo Dybala has been out with a hamstring injury since early October but optimism is in the air. According to Gastón Edul, the Argentina national team coaching staff are optimistic that he will be ready for the World Cup and make the team.

Dybala is in the final phase of his recovery and is also hoping to play on November 13 for AS Roma vs. Torino.

Thiago Almada has been cut from the Argentina national team for the 2022 World Cup.

Almada will not be going to Qatar. According to Gastón Edul, the 21 year old has not made the team.

The Argentina national team coaching staff really considered him and believe that he will play many games for the Argentina national team in the future. He has stayed in Buenos Aires as a replacement.

He was brought on as a substitute in Argentina’s 3-0 win vs. Jamaica against September.

Champions League draw, Argentine players, Lionel Messi vs. Bayern Munich

The Champions League draw for the Round of 16 took place on Monday and there are nine Argentine players remaining.

Lionel Messi and PSG will play Bayern Munich in the Champions League. For Lionel Messi, he has scored some memorable goals against the German side as PSG will try to get the one trophy that is missing from their cabinet.

Julián Álvarez will also be playing a German team as Manchester City have been drawn against Leipzig. In his first season in Europe, it’s the first time Álvarez would play in a knockout stage game in the Champions League.

Nicolás Otamendi and Enzo Fernández play against one of the teams that several clubs may have wanted to play and that is Club Brugge. Benfica were first in their group with PSG in second place.

Liverpool play Real Madrid in a repeat of last season’s final while Dortmund play against Chelsea. There are no Argentine players in those fixtures.

Cristian Romero and Tottenham Hotspur play AC Milan. Tottenham left qualifying for the Round of 16 to the last group stage match.

The only game that has two Argentine players in each side, Frankfurt are up against Napoli. Gio Simeone scored four goals for Napoli while Lucas Alario did not score any goals vs. Frankfurt in the group stages.
