Argentine Champions League preview: Lionel Messi, Ángel Di María, Leandro Paredes

The Champions League group stage continues on Wednesday with 13 Argentine players which could take part in the games.

Lionel Messi and PSG play against last place Maccabi Haifa. The Argentine leads Ligue 1 with seven assists but will want to score his first goal in the Champions League this season.

All Argentine eyes will be on Juventus against Benfica as Ángel Di María, Leandro Paredes and Matías Soulé are up against Nicolás Otamendi and Enzo Fernández. All four players are also part of Lionel Scaloni’s preliminary list of players for the Argentina national team’s September games.

Gio Simeone will look to make it two goals out of two games in the Champions League. The Argentine made his Champions League debut and scored for Napoli against Liverpool and will want to do the same against Rangers.

Sevilla desperately need a win as Marcos Acuña, Gonzalo Montiel, Erik Lamela and Papu Gómez play against Copenhagen. Both teams lost their opening game in the Champions League.

Julián Álvarez and Manchester City host Borussia Dortmund. The striker will want to score his first goal of the tournament.

Alexandro Bernabei and Celtic are away against Shakhtar Donetsk. The 21 year old was on the bench against Real Madrid in the first game and has only played in one league game out of seven for Celtic.

Nicolás Capaldo and RB Salzburg play Chelsea. Capaldo took part in RB Salzburg’s first game against AC Milan last week.

Paulo Dybala scores, assists for AS Roma in 2-1 win vs. Empoli

Paulo Dybala scored and had an assist for AS Roma in their 2-1 win vs. Empoli.

Dybala reached three goals in Serie A this season in AS Roma’s win on Monday. The Argentina received the ball from outside of the penalty area and struck it into the corner to give AS Roma the 1-0 lead.

Empoli would draw level but Dybala would have another trick up his sleeve. The 28 year old would send in a cross to Abraham who would score.

He is now on three goals and two assists, having scored all three goals in his last three games.

Argentine Champions League preview: Lautaro Martínez, Cristian Romero

The Champions League continues on Tuesday with several games and up to 10 Argentine players could be participating in them.

Lautaro Martínez and Joaquín Correa play Viktoria Plzen in the early kick off game. Inter lost their opening game vs. Bayern and have yet to score a goal in the Champions League.

Cristian Romero and Tottenham Hotspur are away against Sporting in the second early kick off game on Tuesday. Both teams top the group having each won their opening game.

Lucas Ocampos and Ajax will look to make it two wins out of two in the Champions League as they host Liverpool. Ocampos recently joined Ajax from Sevilla.

Leonardo Balerdi and Marseille host Lucas Alario and Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt. Both teams lost their opening match last week.

Exequiel Palacios will not be part of the Bayer Leverkusen team against Atletico Madrid. Palacios suffered an injury and will not be part of the team for the game.

Ángel Correa and Rodrigo De Paul both scored for Atletico Madrid in their last league game with Nahuel Molina also starting that game. Atletico won their first match in the Champions League last week agaisnt FC Porto.

Exequiel Palacios is out for Bayer Leverkusen with a left thigh injury.

Palacios will not be part of the Bayer Leverkusen team for their Champions League game vs. Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. The club announced that he will miss the next few games for them and will not play vs. Atletico Madrid.

The 23 year old was substituted out for Leverkusen vs. Hertha in their last league game. Argentina play two games in September, the first on September 23 vs. Honduras and the second on September 27 vs. Jamaica.

Martínez Quarta scored his first goal of the season and the first goal of the game vs. Bologna on Sunday. A cross inside the penalty area was spilled and a second ball, a low pass into the area found the Argentine who scored to give Fiorentina the 1-0 lead.

The 26 year old is part of the preliminary Argentina national team list for the September games against Honduras and Jamaica.
