Report: Esteban ANDRADA dropped from Argentina Copa America squad

Esteban ANDRADA has reportedly been dropped from Argentina’s Copa America squad.

Per a report by Sportia, the Argentina and Boca Juniors goalkeeper has been dropped from the team. As we reported earlier, ANDRADA had suffered a knee injury and was ruled out for Argentina’s Copa America opening game.

Roberto PEREYRA, Esteban ANDRADA to miss Argentina’s Copa America opener

Roberto PEREYERA and Esteban ANDRADA are not fully fit for Argentina.

Just hours before Lionel SCALONI’s team kick off their Copa America campaign, his tram received some less than pleasant news. Roberto PEREYRA has picked up a knock and trained alone from the rest of the group while ANDRADA has synovitis, in other words inflammation, in his right knee.

Per a report by TyC Sports, both will miss Argentina’s opening match at the Copa America.

German PEZZELLA talks at Argentina press conference before Copa America

The Argentina man spoke at a press conference before the start of his team’s Copa America.

German PEZZELLA is expected to be one of the starters alongside Nicolas OTAMENDI in Argentina’s back line. Taking part in his first tournament with the Argentina national team, here’s what PEZZELLA had to say:

“We will give everything in every game. The dreams, we have had them since the first moment. We are the first one who want to win something with this shirt, it has nothing to do with being favorites or not.

“We are working towards solidifying the group. We have players from halfway of the pitch and forward who are capable of unbalancing a team at any moment.”

In regards to the coach Lionel SCALONI:

“I believe the main thing is the clarity of concepts which SCALONI is transmitting to us. We know what we have to do.”

When asked about the injury he suffered:

“I’ve left that behind. The last few days I trained without the mask and didn’t have any problems.”

About Argentina’s opening opponent Colombia at the Copa America:

“Colombia has world class players. They play a very compact game and they counter really quickly. They have a lot of talent from halfway up the pitch and forward.”

Rodrigo DE PAUL speaks at Argentina press conference for Copa America

Making his Argentina tournament debuts, Rodrigo DE PAUL gave a press conference where he discussed the national team and the Copa America.

He has never played a tournament before for the Argentina national team and he will surely see minutes coming off the bench. Speaking at a press conference, here’s what Rodrigo DE PAUL had to say when asked about who is the favorite to win the tournament.

“I think that Brazil due to their history, playing at home and for the players they have. We know that we have the best player in the world and that allows us to dream. To the people, we tell them that we can be optimistic, we are 23 lions who will give their lives out on the pitch. The important thing is to be solid defensively. After that, we have the offensive power and it’s important and it would be the difference if we can keep the opposition from scoring.”

In regards to Lionel MESSI:

“The truth is that Leo is just another one (of the guys). We were able to share moments together and what he transmits is important and that is just being one more (of the guys). It’s a pleasure to be here and to share a Copa America with him.”

About Argentina’s first opponents at the Copa America, Colombia and the rest of the group:

“We will play against a great team and it will be very important to start off confident but they are three matches and nothing will be defined until we play against Qatar. It’s important to see how we feel.”

Leandro PAREDES in Argentina training, preparation for Copa America

Leandro PAREDES was among the 11 players who trained on Wednesday as part of Argentina’s preparation for the Copa America.

Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI had a few doubts in regards to his starting line-up for the opening game against Colombia but those are slowly disappearing. Leandro PAREDES and German PEZZELLA were both in the eleven in training. Here was the line-up:
